Today dawned bright and early as summer draws in, meaning for the team we also need to get up earlier. As the migrants disappear we are left with more and more residents, proving they can be just as spectacular!
First up we had a super beautiful bird; a Hair-crested Drongo! Once again, we have little information on how to age them, but some have suggested the white flecks on the underwing coverts can indicate a young bird. A great bird either way!
After, we had a beautiful Chinese Bulbul- a more common species and another one we are working on to find out more about how we can age them! Furthermore, we put colour rings on them to find out how about their ecology, habitat use and short-distance movements.
Lastly, we caught a very special Plain Prinia! This individual was originally ringed in 2017. Since then, it has been recaptured 10 times, making it now at least in its 7th calendar year!
